The Elliott County Historical Society will be hosting our first Genealogy Conference June 22 & 23, 2018 at the Laurel Gorge Cultural Heritage Center in Sandy Hook, KY.   The Elliott County Historical Society is now located at the Laurel Gorge Cultural Heritage Center on Old KY 7 in the Laurel Curves. We are in the early planning stages so check back often for updates. The fee for the conference is $10.00 to be paid the day of the event. We are pleased to announce we have two guest speakers schedule at this time.  Ann G. Johnson with Frankfort Cemetery presentation will be on Kentucky Cemetery Laws and Preservation.  Ms. Johnson will also be demonstrating how to properly clean a tombstone. Lynn Andersen who was born and raised in Elliott County will be doing one of her presentations on "Our DAR Patriot Ancestors and Their Stories". Learn interesting and even amazing facts about men like David Branham, Lewis Green, Benjamin Hamilton, Patrick Porter, John Sparks and several more.  Facts like who was mauled by a bear and survived it; who served under George Washington; who served as an Indian Spy; who built a famous fort in Southwest Virginia and much more.  To read more about Mrs. Andersen here is a link to her http://fbgsonline.com/about-3/about-2/
